Young’s began modestly in 1979 with founder Robert Young taking on small sewer jobs as a subcontractor. He started with one backhoe, a truck, and no experience. Young, previously a car salesman, had never even been on a construction site until a friend offered him a side gig as a laborer for a plumbing and heating company.
Shortly thereafter, when his friend needed some excavating done, Young offered to do the work on a sub-contractual basis. He headed to the local John Deere Industrial Equipment shop on July 5th of ’79. After a quick lesson in the parking lot on how to operate it, he placed a down payment on a John Deere 410-D, and with that began R.S. Young Excavating, Inc.
Jobs and sales grew slowly but steadily at first, then began to climb dramatically between 1985 and 1988. With the company’s success and expansion of services, due largely to the quality of its crews, R.S. Young Excavating made the shift to Young’s Environmental Cleanup, Inc. in March of 1989.
Young’s, a family owned and operated company, has earned the reputation of an industry leader based upon outstanding service, safety, cost-effectiveness, dependability, and the capability to provide turn-key operations on a very short and sometimes emergency basis across the United States 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all 365 days of the year.
