Young’s began modestly in 1979 founded by Robert (Bob) S. Young. Young, previously a car salesman, had never even been on a construction site until a friend offered him a side gig as a laborer for a plumbing and heating company.
He excelled at the work and when a friend needed some excavating done, Young having zero experience offered to do the work on a sub-contractual basis if he just gave him the chance. He headed to the local John Deere Industrial Equipment shop on July 5th of ’79 where he used every cent to his name to place a down payment on a John Deere 410-D. After few lessons on how to operate the equipment in the parking lot along with some practice holes in a vacant field, he headed off on his first job, and with that began R.S. Young Excavating, Inc.
Jobs and sales grew slowly but steadily at first, then began to climb dramatically between 1985 and 1988. With the company’s success and expansion of services, due largely to the quality of its crews and Bob’s leadership, R.S. Young Excavating made the shift to Young’s Environmental Cleanup, Inc. in March of 1989.
Over the past 30 years, Young’s has evolved from a single-man sewer line installer to Michigan’s premier environmental and emergency response contractor. Recently referred to as a “Pioneer of the Emergency Response industry” Bob built Young’s from the ground up focusing on providing exceptional service to clients across the United States 24/7/365 with an emphasis on safety, hard work, and trust.
